Pooches pamper patients

-

HOSPITALS should allow pets on wards to speed up recovery, say nurses.

They believe animals can relieve suffering, aid healing and make sick people happier. Most hospitals don’t allow pets, but the Royal College of Nursing wants this to change, saying patients with depression and other mental health problems in particular could benefit.

Other research shows having a dog around improves mood and calms those with dementia.
