Hunt for supplier as teen collapses in ‘end of exams’ party in a park

A GIRL aged just 15 died yesterday after suffering a catastrophic reaction to a dangerous new legal high.

The schoolgirl passed out after taking an unknown “psychoactive substance” in the early hours.

She was with more than a dozen teenagers aged around 15 and 16 in a park where substances are shared around.

The group was believed to have been drinking and using drugs in what may have been an end-of-exams party.

The girl was taken to hospital at around 4.50am but died while being treated. Two other girls were also taken to Torbay District Hospital as a precaution but were released.

The tragedy unfolded in Bakers Park in Newton Abbot, South Devon. The unnamed victim is believed to be from the Suffolk area but was visiting relatives and friends in the area.

Detective Superintendent Ken Lamont said: “We are confident local people know who supplied this drug.

“We want youngsters and their parents to come forward.

“We believe the girl had taken a new psychoactive substance, commonly referred to as ‘legal highs’. We have spoken to members of this group.”

The youngsters had told parents they were staying with pals at a sleepover – but were out partying all night instead.

DS Lamont said the park is used by youngsters to congregate and confirmed PRINCE Harry finds himself next in line to William during a game of polo yesterday – as a pal hinted he could also soon follow his brother into married life. Former US marine Kirstie Ennis seemed to confirm she expects Harry to wed lover Meghan Markle after being asked if she might attend “his upcoming wedding”. Asked if she had concerns about buying him a gift she nodded before saying: “I don’t think I’m worried about the wedding – I’m worried about the after party.” Harry and his pals are well known for their carousing. Realising her slip, Kirstie said she would “plead the fifth” – a US legal phrase for refusing to answer. Kirstie, 26, got to know the prince at a Walking with the Wounded charity event. While sources close to Harry, 32, have said an engagement may be near, Kensington Palace is saying nothing. He first met Meghan, 35, in May last year. Harry and William joined in the charity polo event in Cirencester, Gloucs, before heading off to Prince Charles’s Highgrove home to celebrate Camilla’s 70th birthday. empty bottles of spirits, wine and beer were from the party. He said officers had a “good idea” which drug was involved but did not name it.

And he warned: “There is a safe way to party and taking psychoactive drugs is not a safe way.

“A post mortem has yet to be conducted on the girl and it is not yet known if she took other drugs and alcohol as well.”

Local people expressed sadness and shock in online posts.

One wrote: “I’ve done training on legal highs and the amounts of illegal chemicals they contain is horrendous. just say no”.

Another added: “I hope the other girls reveal where they got the drugs from. That person needs to be put away.”
