I told Tyla I’d wait for her.. I’m sad she’s moved on so fast
Bemused Love Island reject Jonny doesn’t quite get point of the show
JONNY & TYLA
LOVE Island’s Jonny Mitchell says he was disappointed when Tyla Carr moved on with another man just two days after he was dumped from the show.
The business director from Essex sacrificed himself so she could stay on the island – with the pair vowing to wait for each other.
But she quickly forgot her promise and kissed returning Mike Thalassitis on Friday night’s show.
“It wasn’t nice to see Tyla move on so quickly,” admitted Jonny, 26. “But at the end of the day she’s not my girlfriend. I told her if she wanted to see how things went with me I was open to that.
“I did really like her. I am disappointed. I personally wouldn’t have acted like she has but it’s the game she wants to play.”
Since returning to the UK from Mallorca, Jonny admits he realises Tyla, 24, isn’t marriage material. “I’m always attracted to girls who are terrible for me,” he said. “It always ends in tears.”
During his time in the villa, Jonny was painted as a villain after playing with Camilla Thurlow’s feelings.
He was later dubbed “possessive” by women’s rights groups after flying off the handle at Theo Campbell – who was pursuing Tyla. He insists he’s not like that in the real world.
“I’m not possessive or controlling,” he said. “In fact, I’m the opposite. I’m quite chilled really.
“When you’re in the villa, you’re not really yourself. If you’re not a jealous person on the outside you can end up getting jealous in there.
“Theo did ask for it. But I’m upset I let myself get that angry about things.” Tipping Camilla and Jamie to win the show, Jonny said: “I’m so happy for Camilla. Cam is the only person in there who doesn’t have a bad bone in their body. “We will stay in touch.” janine.yaqoob@ trinitymirror.com
