Speed boss: Drive ban will cost 62 jobs
A COMPANY boss claims he will have to cut 62 jobs if a court bans him from the road for speeding.
James Rowan – who was driving a Bentley with the plates JA5IONS – said he would have to close two offices because he could not afford a chauffeur.
He told a court: “People can’t work the hours I work. I would need three people 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
Rowan, 45, of Chellaston, Derbys, faces a six-month ban for doing 57mph in a 40mph limit with nine points already.
He said he was fighting to save his firm, Energy Save, after sales fell when it featured on BBC1’s Watchdog show.
A Nottingham judge adjourned the case to hear written financial evidence.
