British stars in a charge for glory at The Emmys

A STRING of British stars joined Claire Foy among the nomination­s for tonight’s Emmy Awards.

They include Sir Anthony Hopkins, Thandie Newton and Benedict Cumberbatc­h.

The Crown has racked up two nomination­s – best drama series and Claire for best actress.

The royal drama is up against Better Call Saul, The Handmaid’s Tale, House of Cards, Stranger Things, This Is Us and Westworld.

Claire’s rivals for the top actress gong are Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale), Robin Wright (House of Cards), Evan Rachel Wood (Westworld), Viola Davis (How to Get Away with Murder) and Keri Russell (The Americans).
