INSPIRATION of the week

WHEN his wife suffered with extreme morning sickness, Neil briggs did more than just hold her hair back for her.

He became a carer to Abi, a midwife, who had hyperemesis gravidarum during both her pregnancies, in 2011 and 2014.

The condition – the same illness that has affected the Duchess of Cambridge – lasted from five weeks pregnant until the birth.

It meant Abi was unable to work or look after herself or care for their eldest child during the second pregnancy. Neil, 41, had to take so much time off work that he lost his job in the entertainment industry. Now the couple, from Devon, have two healthy children – bo and Linus – and Neil has a new job as regional manager for family events company big Fish Little Fish. He volunteers for Pregnancy Sickness Support, offering a sympathetic ear to other partners helping pregnant women through this severe condition and fundraising for the charity.
