Strictly? It’s a no Karren do They always ask but I’ll stick to The Apprentice
NATALIE’S STUNTS ARE A REAL BARNSTORMER
Apprentice star Karren Brady has revealed she gets asked to go on Strictly Come Dancing every year... but says there’s no cha cha chance of her ever doing it.
The Baroness says she will stick to what she knows best – advising Lord Sugar in his search for the next entrepreneur.
Karren, 48, says: “I do get asked to do other TV projects.
“I got asked to a cooking show when I can’t even cook! I’ve been asked to Strictly a number of times. Every year actually.” The Apprentice is back this week and Karren reveals some of the sparring that goes on in the boardroom. Karren is chief executive of West Ham and co-stars Lord Sugar and Claude Littner are Spurs fans. She says: “There are constant digs – some quite rude! You can always tell whether Alan is in a good or bad mood if his team has won or lost when we film on a Saturday. And vice-versa with me. “When the candidates go out, Alan goes, ‘What’s the score? What’s the score?’ The cameraman has to have the score ready. We were talking about something being empty and Alan said, Moira Barton’s life hangs in the balance on Emmerdale as she’s trapped in a barn blaze and it’s down to arch nemesis Emma Barton to save her – but what will she do? Tomorrow’s explosive scenes kick off a week of action on the ITV soap – with at least one death expected. Natalie J Robb, who plays Moira, revealed that she and Emma (Gillian Kearney) did their own stunts. “When the actual blast went off, we felt a real surge from it and it was boiling,” she said. “Afterwards the adrenaline was rushing though us, we were just buzzing. “I was completely wired up every night when I got home.” Will the two warring women make it out alive? ‘It’s as empty as West Ham’s trophy cabinet.’ My stiletto went bang into his ankle. Normally I’m wearing trainers but you can’t tell. I wear a nice top and skirt then trainers under the table.”
Karren also talks about another issue she feels passionately about – the pressure on young women to look good.
Although she “couldn’t give two hoots” about her own appearance, the mum of two says: “There’s this obsession with selfies and then this lack of confidence if people say negative things, or you don’t get many likes.
“If you accept who you are and concentrate on the things that make you happy, you end up with a much more focused and happy existence.” ■■Winners will be chosen at random. Standard MGN competition terms apply. See mirror.co.uk/rules
