UK’s top online food photos revealed

BRUMMIES and Geordies like having their cake and sharing pictures of it – while Mancunians love to post photos of beer and curries.

Uploading images of meals and booze online to show off to friends has become a national obsession.

Today we reveal the food and drink most often shared on social media in Britain.

Curry is the favourite in Manchester and Londoners share the most photos of Indian food. Barbecues make the hottest pics in Sheffield while Brummies and Geordies go for cake.

Unsurprisingly, cocktails are the most photo- graphed drink, taking top spot in Leeds, Leicester, London and Newcastle. In Birmingham, the tipple most people share images of online is gin while in Manchester and Sheffield it’s beer.

Liverpudlians prefer Prosecco while Bristolians take the most pics of cider. Researchers analysed around a million Instagram posts, using phrases such as #foodofinstagram, #foodporn and #instafood, for The Original Tour.

The bus operator’s head of digital Namrata Shah said: “Food and drink is the most prominent subject for discussion online.
