FIVE KEY MOMENTS

KANE’S LAST 10 AWAYS

-

with a proud defensive record, having kept four clean sheets in their first six top-flight matches.

But none of their opponents so far have matched up to this exciting, attacking Spurs side.

This was the first meeting between these two sides in 45 years.

Huddersfield set the tone for the day within 30 seconds when Kane squirmed a shot out of his feet that was deflected for a corner.

Chris Lowe’s error then let Kane in on goal and, in his current form, he was never going to miss as he slotted with ease past Jonas Lossl.

Spurs were soon 2-0 up, again down to a Lowe error, although it would be unfair to be too harsh on the German.

A slick passing move from the visitors saw Huddersfield attempt to clear their lines – only for the ball to cannon off Lowe and into the path of Davies. The Welsh full-back duly clipped the ball past Lossl for his second of the campaign. Huddersfield lacked their usual high-tempo and it was no surprise when Spurs knocked in a third on 23 minutes. Kane picked up the ball on the right before cutting inside on his left and curling a glorious effort into the top-left corner. On the half-hour mark, it was almost 4-0, but Dele Alli’s poked effort came back off a post. Kane then had the ball in the net again shortly afterwards, but it was correctly ruled out for offside. Huddersfield woke from their slumber just before half-time when Laurent Depoitre capitalised on a rare Spurs error, drove forward and smacked a shot off the bar. The second half took a while to get going – with a lengthy stoppage for an injury to Kieran Trippier not helping the flow of the game. The rest of the half was lacklustre until the first of three added minutes, when Spurs added a fourth for good measure. Davies scampered down the wing and chipped a cute ball into the path of Sissoko whose scruffy effort went in via a deflection off defender Christopher Schindler. Honest Huddersfield boss David Wagner was acutely aware of his side’s shortcomings. “Tottenham are a top-class team, but we made it too easy for them,” he said. “There were too many individual mistakes from us. “The second goal showed they are a top team, we cleared the ball, but unfortunately they made it 2-0. “That felt like it was game over before it had really got started.” Lossl 6, Smith 6, Zanka 6, Schindler 7, Lowe 4 (Malone 60, 7), van la Parra 5, Hogg 5 (Whitehead 81), Mooy 5 (Billing 60, 6) Kachunga 6, Ince 5, Depoitre 6. Subs not used: Green, Sabiri, Cranie, Hadergjonaj.

Lloris 6, Trippier 6 (WalkerPeters 81, 5), Alderweireld 6, Sanchez 7, Vertonghen 7, Davies 7, Dier 8, Winks 7, Eriksen 8 (Sissoko 75, 7), Alli 8, Kane 9 (Son 86). Subs not used: Vorm, Nkoudou, Llorente, Foyth. REFEREE: Neil Swarbrick 7.

Harry Kane has scored against 25 of the 26 teams he has faced in the Premier League, only failing to find the back of the net against Cardiff City (two apps, 0 goals). ■■Kane has netted 13 goals in September 2017 for club and country, the mostever in a single month by the English striker.

Kane’s tally of 13 goals for Tottenham and England in September 2017 equals the highest tallies in a single month by both Lionel Messi (13 in March 2012) & Cristiano Ronaldo (13 in Oct 2010). ■■Kane is only the second player in Premier League history to score 2+ goals in three consecutive away appearances in the competition (also Dennis Bergkamp in 1997).
