Airlift oil rig worker dies

AN oil worker died and two others fell ill on a North Sea rig.

The dead man had been airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary from the Brae Alpha platform, 155 miles north east of the city.

In a separate incident a day later two men were also airlifted to hospital from the Marathon Oil rig.

Marathon Oil said of the dead worker: “The evacuation was as a result of illness and not a workrelated incident. Relatives have been informed.”
