RAGE AGAINST RECKLESS TRUMP

-

Many dismiss Donald Trump as an idiot with an addiction to Twitter. But his decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital is the most reckless US foreign intervention since the Iraq War.

The Holy City has huge significance to both Jewish people and Muslims, who populate East Jerusalem. How can the US be an honest broker in the peace process if they choose to take the Israelis’ side? Trump thinks moving the US Embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv, where every other country has one, will help peace. The fact Palestinians called for a day of rage, proves he’s wrong. expand socially divisive grammar schools, pursue austerity and bring in universal credit, which is forcing people to use food banks.

I warned Alan Milburn in this column that he was being used by the Tories, along with another ex-Labour Cabinet Minister, John Hutton, who was asked to look at developing their pension policies.

There is still a pensions crisis and Milburn this week ended up resigning when he realised the Tories were making social mobility worse.

The Tories don’t change their spots, they change their language but the results are always the same.

They’re not interested in social justice for the many, just tax breaks for the privileged few.

So if any of my colleagues are tempted to help the Tories, just look at Milburn and Hutton.

As the punk singer Johnny Rotten once said: “Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated?”
