PARENTS’ JOY AS NHS U-TURN

LITTLE Oliver Cameron looks oh, so cheeky, his tufty hair and beaming smile lighting up a picture that would grace any family album.

But this isn’t just any picture. And Oliver isn’t just any child.

This wonderful photo was taken six days after surgery that saved the tot and gave him a shot at leading a normal life.

Just weeks ago, the adorable 10-month-old was in a life-ordeath race against time, battling a rare heart condition which could kill him in an instant.

He was born with a cardiac fibroma, a massive tumour inside the wall of his tiny heart. Just three children are known to have had the condition in the UK and only 200 worldwide.

The Sunday Mirror told in June how Oliver’s devoted parents, Lydia and Tim, were working tirelessly to raise £150,000 to fly him to Boston Children’s Hospital in the US for life-saving surgery.

But he was given an extraordin­ary lifeline when NHS England did a U-turn and agreed to fund the pioneering treatment.
