Baxter’s out for revenge
EXETER LEICESTER EXETER boss Rob Baxter has warned Leicester his tabletoppers are out for revenge at Sandy Park this afternoon.
Tigers knocked over the Premiership leaders 20-13 in September – the last time Chiefs lost in the league.
Since then Baxter’s men have gone on a run of six straight domestic wins whilst Leicester have lost five out of five in all competitions and Baxter insists Chiefs are out to make it six of the best. Baxter (above) said: “We must assume they will be the real Leicester. There are factors that help us with that – we lost to Leicester earlier in the season, which obviously helps.”
Former Leicester favourite Thomas Waldrom starts at No.8 for the hosts and Henry Slade returns to centre after playing full-back in that game.
Tigers are skippered by George Ford and hand a first Premiership start to former Wallaby hooker Tatafu Polota-Nau. QUINS manager John Kingston watched his teenage wonderkid Marcus Smith demolish Saints – then claimed the lad is still not ready for international rugby.
Eddie Jones calls Smith ‘an apprentice’ – but he played like a master here having a hand in five tries out of seven and kicking 15 points on a nightmare day for Northampton.
England chief Jones was in the crowd as Smith, still just 18, pulled Saints to pieces in front of 77,825 punters at HQ.
Smith joins up with England tomorrow for a training camp in Brighton
