Lauren had been rushed to hospital after the June attack and 4lb 1oz Harper was delivered by emergency C-section.

The mum told at the time how the scan picking up her baby’s heartbeat had been “the sweetest sound I ever heard”.

Lauren, who also has an older daughter Ruby, nine, found new happiness after moving to live with her mum near Doncaster – next door to a fire station.

Matthew, 28, messaged her online and they had their first date on New Year’s Day 2016.

Lauren said: “We were really shy. We messaged for about two months but if we saw each other in the village we’d turn crimson, smile and look away. After our first date we knew we were falling in love. But it was difficult because of what I’d been through with Nick.

“He’d seemed lovely, then became a monster. I asked friends, what if he turns out the same?

“They persuaded me I was being too cautious.” The couple are now set to wed. Cradling three-month-old Carter, Lauren said: “When doctors said not to get pregnant, I’d been through so much it didn’t bother me. But now it feels like everything has aligned. I’ve never been happier.”
