Beatle widow go-ahead for town tribute
GEORGE Harrison’s widow has given her blessing to a memorial garden in the town he made his home.
A previous campaign to erect a statue of the Beatle there was halted following a request by Olivia, 69.
But the author, who still lives in Henley-on-Thames, Oxon, has said yes to the garden after talks with the local council.
The legendary guitarist, who died of cancer in 2001, moved to Grade II-listed Friar Park in Henley in the Seventies.
Mayor Kellie Hinton said: “The aim is to create a tranquil, peaceful space in memory of somebody who meant an incredible amount to the people of Henley.”
