Republic kids can impress
REPUBLIC OF IRELAND No.1 Darren Randolph is backing two of Martin O’Neill’s new recruits to kickstart long international careers this week.
West Ham defender Declan Rice, 19, and Manchester United keeper Kieran O’Hara, 21 — who has only played a handful of loan games in six years — are with the squad for the friendly against Turkey on Friday.
Randolph briefly played with Rice, who could still declare for England, at West Ham, and said: “He has kicked on again to another level. He has his foot in the door now and the chance to become an Ireland regular.
“Kieran looks good – for a keeper I say, ‘get games, as young as possible, at any level, even in the Conference’.”
