Johnson hails deadly sub Djuric

-

weather improved slightly. Djuric might have put City ahead before he scored, shooting over when Marlon Pack’s drive from distance was parried by Bialkowski. After the goal, Ipswich threw more men forward, but despite losing centre-back Hordur Magnusson to injury, a City defence already missing Aden Flint and Joe Bryan through suspension, held firm.

McCarthy, who saw his team battered 3-0 by Hull at home in midweek and hounded by the Portman Road fans, said: “I felt we should have taken something from this game.

“We didn’t have as much of the ball as them, but we had as many opportunities. We could have defended better for the goal, but overall I thought we played well.

“You could see when they scored how delighted they were because they didn’t think it was going to happen.

“My only complaint is that we conceded a goal. I can’t fault the players otherwise and both teams handled the conditions well.”
