KATIE Price and two of her children were caught up in a terrifying ambush during a filming trip for her online show My Crazy Life in South Africa.
Her youngsters Princess, 10, and Junior, 12, were manhandled by the gang as their people carrier driver was punched unconscious and three others needed hospital treatment for wounds .
A source said last night: “Katie was frantically worried for her little ones. Everyone is traumatised. It was an horrific ordeal.”
Armed guards are now protecting the family after mum-of-five Katie, 39, decided to carry on with the journey.
POUNCED
They were travelling to Swaziland with film crew and tourists in two vehicles on Thursday night when the gang pounced as they made a motorway toilet stop for the children.
Everyone was left stranded by the roadside as the attackers ran off with the car keys, mobiles, laptops, passports and cash.
Athol Stark, tourist board chief for Ermelo in Mpumalanga province where the attack happened, said: “Everyone is traumatised but they’ve decided to continue filming. Katie Price was particularly upset because her children were pushed around. They spent Thursday night in a private guest house.
“She later gave me a hug to say thank you. I do not believe she was personally targeted, it was an opportunist mugging.”
The car keys thrown away by the gang have been recovered. Police are investigating whether they were armed.
Police spokesman Leonard Hlathi said the vehicles had pulled over into a dark spot and urged other tourists to avoid doing the same.
