Mum Davina: I punished my husband

- BY HALINA WATTS

DAVINA McCall has told how she used to “punish” her estranged husband when they first had kids.

She said: “I wanted to punish Matthew in some way and keep him up.

“I’d turn the light on and change the nappy and think, ‘Well I’m sorry if you’re asleep.’

“With the second and the third he’d go and sleep in the spare room. Sounds selfish. But if one gets sleep they can make tea or whatever for the other one.”

The TV host, 50, and Matthew, 49, split last year. THERE were 7,800 nappy changes and 8,736 trips up and down stairs to tend to sleeping babies, but for Carla and Paul Crozier it was one wonderfully tiring year.

So no wonder the weary pair are proudly showing off quadruplets Isla, Demi, Alyse and Milla.

The girls – two pairs of identical twins, at odds of 70 million to one – were one last Tuesday and celebrated with a cake each.

The family, including fouryear-old big sis Darcie – made an emotional return to Herts and Essex Fertility Centre, where the tots were conceived.

And in a trip to Medway Maritime Hospital in Kent they were reunited with medics who cared for the girls when they arrived 12 weeks early. Carla, 35, said: “It’s easy to forget how tiny and fragile they were. Going back choked me up... memories of how small they were and how scared I felt. I just feel so blessed to have such a big family.” Darcie was born in 2013 after fertility treatment on the NHS and a five-year battle to conceive. Carla and Paul then tried for a second child through self-funded IVF – wiping out all of their savings.

By 2016 they took out a loan for a final IVF attempt – bringing the total spent to £16,000.

And the shocked pair were stunned to discover Carla was expecting quadruplets.

Builder Paul, 43, joked: “Sometimes you have to be careful
