Wherever we see children exploited we must speak out and expose those responsible. I have sleepless nights when I think that something I’ve read in a Martina Cole novel is real life for some poor young boys and girls.

Whether in Telford, Rotherham or anyway else, children have been the victims of manipulative predators who prey on the vulnerable, treat them with contempt and expose them to the very worst side of mankind.

Don’t let this be in our communities. Shout about it from rooftops and let’s put these parasites where they belong... behind bars. difficult to estimate the potential harm they can cause.

For those cursed with an addiction the damage can be irreparable, causing them to lose not only vast sums of money, but also their homes, jobs, families and, tragically for some, even their lives.

Last October the Government finally listened and issued a call for evidence and consultation on the stakes that can be wagered on these machines.

I believe it is vital that they act in the public interest and protect the most vulnerable in our society by reducing the stake from £100 to £2 per spin.

As yet, the Government has not publicised the results of the consultation.

But I, for one, am avidly awaiting this announcement and hopeful that we will see the significant reduction that the APPG has been campaigning so passionately for.
