An incredible inspirational 80day celebration of all things Northern starts on Friday. The Great Exhibition of the North, based in Newcastle and Gateshead, will feature live performances, innovation and science displays, new artworks and magical experiences.
It aims to tell the compelling story of the North of England and how its inventors, businesses, artists and designers have shaped the present and are inspiring the future.
Highlights will include a Great Northern Soundtrack curated by broadcaster Lauren Laverne, the return of Stephenson’s Rocket locomotive complete with VR experience, and a new solo showcase from Turner Prize winner Lubaina Himid.
And it is predicted to bring a £180million boost to the North East.
