‘Armed’ teen locks mother up saying he wants police to shoot him... then they do
A DISTURBED teenager has been shot dead by police – after telling his mum that was what he wanted.
High school student Archer Amorosi, 16, was killed after locking his mother in the garage of their home and then strutting around with a pistol and a knife.
Police called to the house by the trapped mum repeatedly tried to calm him down as he pointed his gun at them and at the garage door. They used pepper spray and a Taser when he ignored requests to put his weapons down, before finally two officers fired live shots and killed him.
Last night an investigation was under way into the “officer-involved shooting” of the promising football and lacrosse player, who was said to have had mental health issues. Reports said Amorosi’s mother phoned 911 to say he had threatened her before locking her in their garage in Chanhassen, Minnesota.
In a recording, an emergency services dispatcher is heard saying: “Male party has knives and a baseball bat. Mother is stating he wants officers to shoot him.”
Police arrived to find Amorosi pacing up and down with “some kind” of gun.
After the shooting a dozen of the teen’s friends gathered outside crying.
One said: “It’s so sad that it had to end this way – they knew about the mental issues.”
Amorosi’s father said he was unaware of there being any firearms in the house apart from an airsoft pellet gun.
