Mary Berry says she shuns any surgical intervention – instead she keeps her skin feeling youthful using E45 lotion.

The 83-year-old queen of baking assures fans: “No facelifts, nothing. No Botox – and I’ve got wrinkles. That’s what happens when you get older. It doesn’t worry me. I use E45 from a big bottle.” AS the miracle beauty secret adored by Victoria Beckham, Liz Hurley and Jennifer Aniston, you would expect it to cost a small fortune.

But the latest celebrity elixir, apple cider vinegar, can be bought in supermarkets for less than a fiver.

It is now flying off shelves – and giving an unexpected boost to the UK’s apple industry, which has seen hundreds of traditional varieties gradually disappear due to a reliance on imported fruit.

In a new twist on the tradition of “an apple a day”, stars swear by waking up with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar mixed with a cup of hot water.

Advocates claim it does everything from giving their immune system a boost to shrinking their appetite. And the trend has sent sales at Waitrose soaring 60 per cent.

William Chase, the man behind the Willy’s brand – made from the 300-year-old orchards at his farm in Herefordshire – told us: “Turnover has doubled since January, we just can’t make enough of it.

“We’re using tiny crab apples which would otherwise have been wasted. We’re looking for other farms with old orchards to help provide the apples we need.”

Liz Hurley has said the vinegar is the key to her youthful complexion, taken in cups of hot water when she wakes up.

And Victoria Beckham says she starts the day with two tablespoons of ACV, as devotees call it, on an empty stomach.

Here, we reveal the other budget beauty buys of the stars… “For a shot of evening glamour, you can’t beat this eyeliner. It’s rocky without looking OTT,” says Strictly presenter Tess Daly, 49. Kim Kardashian, 37, fights off stretch marks by using Bio-Oil.

She said: “It prevents wrinkles around my eyes, and stretch marks over my body.” Comedian Dawn French says she uses a basic tub of Nivea to keep her complexion smooth. The 60-year-old Vicar of Dibley star is partly responsible for the laughter lines on millions of faces. But she insists: “No one is paying me to say this… but in answer to all ‘skin’ inquires, please don’t spend tons, this is it for me.” Meghan Markle’s simple but glowing make-up secret? Applying her foundation with a beautyblender sponge. The Duchess, 36, said: “I never want to cover my freckles, so we do a foundation ‘wash’ in certain areas, not over the entire face.” Singer Kylie Minogue, 50, said her skin’s youthful glow is all thanks to Ponds.

“It’s really changed my skin,” she says. “It’s all I really use to look after it.

“And it’s such an old classic. My mum uses it and it really does work. It’s made such a difference.”
