Goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski first parried and then pushed the ball into Janoi Donacien and Graham swept the loose ball home to level.

The former Swansea and Sunderland striker turned provider nine minutes later when he released Williams down the left and his low cross was converted by Dack for 2-1.

After the break, Rovers had a golden chance to seal the three points when on-loan Chelsea striker Kasey Palmer had his low shot stopped by Luca Vega before substitute Edun intervened to give Town a share of the spoils.

The 20-year-old was an England team-mate of Blues duo Andre Dozzell and Trevoh Chalobah, when the young Three Lions won the European Under-19 Championships last summer.

Hurst, who left out striker Martyn Waghorn before his imminent transfer away, said: “It was far from a great performance but there was a lot of character shown by the players.
