Busy beach at Playa de las Americas A BRITISH man has been arrested on Majorca accused of tying up and raping a young woman at a flat.

Dylan Rogers, 26, was held at a neighbouring flat following a stand-off with police that lasted several hours.

The 22-year-old victim was so badly beaten in the attack on Wednesday in S’Arenal, near Majorca’s airport, she needed hospital treatment. A source said: “She was bound with insulating tape and had bruises on her legs, arms and face.”

Rogers, thought to live and work in Magaluf, faced a court on Friday to be quizzed in a criminal probe. The judge is thought to have remanded him in custody and he is yet to be charged with any crime – as is normal in Spain, where charges are only made shortly before trial. A SURFING off-duty cop saved a terrified tourist in Tenerife from two men who were allegedly trying to rape her on a beach.

The British woman met one of the men on a night out and was attacked after agreeing to go down to the shore, local reports say.

But the officer, who was surfing with a friend, heard her screams and ran to help.

The policeman and his pal chased down the two Moroccan men and pinned them to the ground until colleagues arrived to arrest them.

The attack took place on the beach in Playa de las Americas in the south of the island, a resort hugely popular with British holidaymakers.

One of the men has been remanded in jail after a closed court hearing.

The other suspect, who is an illegal immigrant, has been sent to a foreigners’ holding detention centre.

The distressed woman is understood to have flown back home from the Canaries after giving her statement to police.

She also gave her evidence to the judge.

TARGETING

Last month, police in the Spanish city of Valencia arrested a Moroccan man over the rape of a British pensioner in Tenerife.

The 25-year-old is accused of targeting the 74-year-old during a daylight break-in at her apartment.

The man was linked to the rape by his DNA.

The sickening attack happened at around 11am on May 13 when the victim was alone in her apartment.

Investigators say she was forced into a bedroom and raped after the intruder discovered her inside the flat during the break-in.

She was hospitalised for seven days after the attack.

The woman was staying at the property in the district of Arona, which includes the popular resort of Playa de las Americas, where the other British woman was targeted.

A police source described the suspect as a drifter known to police from previous arrests.

They say he had never been accused of a serious sex crime. He is also alleged to have stolen money and jewellery.
