three-year-old Myla. But after heartbreak­ing struggles to conceive, and long IVF journeys, both got pregnant again last year.

And faced with the daunting prospect of raising four babies all at once, who better to turn to than someone going through the exact same experience?

Selina said: “When I saw your article about Carla, I’d just had a seven-week scan showing I was having quadruplet­s.

“I was terrified and desperate to talk to someone else who had been in my position.

“So I looked Carla up on Facebook and messaged her saying, ‘This might seem really weird, but I’m expecting quads too, can you help me?’.” And the bond the two women formed was instant. They started messaging each other every day – sharing tips and advice on coping with being pregnant with four babies.

Selina, 28, added: “When I was worried about something, I’d send Carla a message and she’d reassure me that was normal, it had been the same for her.

“I don’t know what I would have done without her support.”

Carla gave birth in March last year. At odds of 70 million-to-one, she had two pairs of twin girls – Isla, Demi, Alyse and Milla.

Just four months later, Selina and her decorator partner Kev Ashe, 35, welcomed their four – identical triplets Roman, Arlo and Austin, and little Raeya, the only girl. With four one-year-old babies and a toddler to look after, phoning each other became impossible for Carla and Selina.

But the two friends continued to message daily. Carla, from Grays, Essex, said: “There must be thousands of messages.

“Messaging is easier because it’s impossible to find a time when we’re both free to talk. You rarely get a break.

“I’ll be like, ‘They’re napping now, are you free?’ And Selina will say, ‘No, I’m just feeding them’.

“And then later she’ll be free and I’ll be like, ‘No I’m feeding mine now’.

“It’s been so nice to be able to have someone who actually understand­s what it’s like to have
