She was jailed on Monday for nine years and nine months after admitting GBH with intent against Zara, attempted GBH with intent on Toni, and failing to provide a specimen of blood. Judge Steven Everett said the mum of three, who has previous convictions for violence, had been intending to hurt Toni “really badly”.
Support worker Toni said: “Kim’s always been jealous of my being with her ex but I never imagined this.
“I live in fear of her coming out and finishing the job.” Both women say they have been left traumatised by the attack. Toni said: “I’ve always struggled with anxiety and depression but my meds have been upped.
“Initially I blamed myself for bringing this on. I couldn’t visit Zara at first as the guilt was eating me up.”
Zara added: “I wake up sweating after seeing Kim’s evil face in my head every night. “But I never blamed Toni – I love her to pieces.”
As she appeared via video link at Chester Crown Court, Venables’ defence said she had been a victim of domestic violence before wedding her care worker ex – and felt her “stable future had gone” when the marriage broke down. But Judge Everett told her : “You used your car as a devastating weapon.”
Venables was also disqualified from driving for five years and faces an extended retest.
Zara and Toni said: “She’ll be out in half that time – it’s nothing for the impact it’s had on both of us. She pleaded guilty but she’s never said sorry.”
And they insisted they do not blame Toni’s former lover. Toni said: “The only one we blame is Kim. I don’t regret the relationship, what we had was good – when Kim left us to it.”
A staff member at Brooklyn’s Babes said of Venables: “She’s no longer with us.”
