Best of the fest
There’s loads of musical weekends this summer
Watching sunny Glastonbury on the TV might be giving you serious case of FOMO, but fear not. Big hitters Creamfields (dance music) and Reading and Leeds (rock and pop) are something to look forward to over the August Bank Holiday, and there are a host of smaller festivals to help you get your groove on before then.
Ramblin Man Fair (Mote Park, Maidstone, Kent, July 19-21) Dust off your denims and leathers for or a weekend of epic headbanging to headliners The Darkness, Black Stone Cherry and Foreigner, as well as plenty of other hard rock, southern rock, blues rock and country rock. With real ale and great burgers.
Latitude (Henham Park, Southwold, Suffolk, July 18-21) George Ezra, Stereophonics and Lana Del Rey lead the pack at this family-friendly festival.
Bluedot B ( Jodrell Bank, Cheshire, Cheshi July 18-21) Get your 80s electro groove on as you celebrate 50 years since the moon landings – Hot Chip, Kraftwerk 3-D and New Order will leave you... er... over the moon.
Kendal Calling (Lowther Deer Park, Lake District, July 25-28) Bop to the Courteeners, Doves, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Manic Street Preachers, Years & Years, Tom Jones and The Fratellis.
Bestival (Lulworth Cove, Dorset, July 25-28) The ultimate family fest with Nile Rodgers & Chic, Annie Mac and The Human League plus kids’ theatre (including Mr Tumble), fireworks, bouncy castles and trapeze school.
Boardmasters (Trebelsue Farm, Watergate Bay, Cornwall, August 7-11) Surf ’s up in Cornwall, with 12 stages hosting Wu-Tang Clan, Florence + The Machine, Foals, Razorlight and Dizzee Rascal. And there will be surfing.
