City won’t find it three and easy... 30yr Kop wait is over Minto’s three picks to watch...

- By NEIL MOXLEY

THE pressure of landing three titles on the spin will leave the door open for Liverpool to end their 30-year wait for domestic glory.

That’s the view of former Chelsea and West Ham defender Scott Minto, who has backed the Reds to capitalise on the e psychological stresses at t Manchester City.

The Sky pundit believes s that the hunger to lift the e Premier League crown will ill be greater at Anfield, d, eclipsing the drive within n City’s dressing-room.

Minto said: “The title race e will be between two teams s again – the pair that ran n away with it last season – the rest will be just be fighting for the remaining g Champions League spots.

“For Pep Guardiola, the question is simple. How do you improve on a historic domestic Treble? You can’t t

– only conquering Europe e remains. But, if anyone can keep his team at that level, Pep can.

“He demands the purest form of football, too. It’s the hardest thing to do. But the drive, the work ethic and his relentless approach make him the best.

“People will say he should concentrate on the Champions Leag League. He won’t. He went for all fou four competitions last season – and announced he was g going for them – and they o only just fell short.

“However, he might just fi find it harder to keep his pl players as motivated as b before – and there could be m more games where they m may not lose, but drop p points. And that will be the d difference.

“That was the case last se season. Liverpool lost the title tit by not winning as many ga games as Manchester City.

“And I think it will be cr crucial. That hunger and m motivation is at Anfield.

“Winning the Champions Le League is an incredible achievement (left) – but winning the Premier League has to be their absolute priority.

“I don’t see any issue in a poor pre-season. When I was playing, I never read too much into it. The fixtures aren’t too unkind in the opening two months of the season and they can build their momentum then.”

Minto reckons Spurs are in a category of their own – not good enough to challenge the top two and better than the rest, who, he feels, are in a period of transition. He said: “Arsenal are so far away from being competitive in the title race.

“Wilfried Zaha isn’t a necessity. (Nicolas) Pepe isn’t, either, although he will excite the fans.

“Sorting out the defence is a main priority, as is sourcing a dominant central midfielder.

“The fact they have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette means they will always score. But they will also concede.

“As for Chelsea, this situation would be tough for an experienced manager – not just someone who has been in the hot-seat for just one season.

“Eden Hazard is irreplaceable. Add in the fact that the transfer embargo has prevented them signing anyone at all and you can see that the club is at a crossroads.

“The problem for Frank Lampard and his assistant Jody Morris is that it’s such a big jump from the academy to one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

“The fans need to remember that when the going gets tough – and it will – they need to remember the bigger picture and it’s crucial the club do, too.

“As for Manchester United, they’re years away from challenging for the title again.

“They needed at least one top-class central defender – you may think Harry Maguire can now fill that gap – a creative midfielder, a wide player and hope Marcus Rashford becomes the player I think he can be on a consistent basis. And David de Gea needs to sign that new deal.

“Until all of that happens, they’ll be playing catch-up.”
