IT’S HARRY

Penalty wizard Kane weaves his magic for another Three Lions hat-trick

- By SIMON MULLOCK at Wembley

SCORING wizard Harry Kane produced another of his spellbinding performances as he hit his second England hat-trick.

He took his tally for the nation to 25 to comfortably defeat visitors Bulgaria at Wembley yesterday.

And if Kane continues in this form over the coming years, then he will be certain to shatter Wayne Rooney’s England goal record.

Rooney bagged 53 times in 120 appearances for his nation – breaking the 49-goal standard set by Sir Bobby Charlton that had stood for 45 years. Rooney’s reign will be a lot shorter. Kane also illustrated that he is much more than a goalscorer for Gareth Southgate by setting up Raheem Sterling to show, once again, that he is also developing into a marksman of world-class pedigree.

Sterling once went three years without finding the net for England.

But he has now bagged seven goals in the last 11 months after ending his drought against Spain last October. It’s all good for Southgate.

England have won all four of their Group A qualifiers and top the standings with a healthy goal difference.

Tuesday, then their qualification for next summer’s finals will be virtually assured. How Bulgaria must pine for the days when Hristo Stoichkov and Yordan Letchkov were ripping it up at the World Cup.

Krasimir Balakov’s side are now nothing more than whipping boys – picking up just two points from five games to sit bottom of the group. The visitors did give England an early fright when Wanderson found himself in space on the edge of the box, only to see his deflected shot f ly straight at Jordan Pickford.
