Disney let it grow

Disneyland Paris is expanding, with an all-new immersive Frozen land. The lakeside zone in Walt Disney Studios Park is part of a €2billion investment – phasing in from 2021 – which will also eventually include Avengers Campus, a Marvel-themed area with a webslingin­g Spider-Man ride, and a site dedicated to Star Wars.

Frozen fans will enjoy views across the lake to one of Arendelle’s snow-capped mountains, and ride an attraction to the centre of the kingdom where they will encounter the film’s characters and discover a restaurant and souvenir shop.

So what Elsa is new at Disneyland? Also announced in Paris this week was the Stark truth that Avengers fans can rush to assemble at a Marvelthem­ed on- site hotel next summer.

Marvel go on sale on November 5 with rates yet to be announced.

The property, an “epic transforma­tion” of the current Hotel New York, will celebrate 80 years of Marvel stories in a Manhattan-style setting showcasing more than 300 pieces of artwork.

It will include original sketches, comic covers, posters, movie illustrati­ons and storyboard­s, some never seen before.

Themed rooms will go superhero too, all having Marvel art and selected upscale suites based on Iron Man genius Tony Stark, Avengers and Spider-Man.

Dining and socialisin­g options will include a restaurant with a chandelier inspired by Thor’s Asgardian Palace and a New York martini bar with views of the Big Apple and the promise of superhero surprises.

Key events at the theme park for 2020 will feature the return of the hit Lion King and Jungle Festival, a new Disneyland Paris Princess Run, the Electrolan­d music weekend, Star Wars focused Legends of the Force, a Pride showcase and a new Frozen Celebratio­n with a special show. disneyland­paris.com

Hear ye! The nation’s top town criers are set to gather in the West Yorkshire market town of Otley next Sunday in a bid to be crowned the country’s loudest hailer. Each competitor will be judged on two cries: one extolling the virtues of their hometown, the other a “subject cry” focusing on World Car-Free Day which takes place on the same day.

King Seaways and Princess Seaways, built in 1987 and 1986 respective­ly, will be exchanged for Moby Wonder (2001) and Moby Aki (2005).
