..BUT UNDER-FIRE TOFFEES BOSS STAYS DEFIANT

- By CHRIS McKENNA at Goodison Park

MARCO SILVA said it’s not the right time to talk about his future as boss ss after fans yesterday called ed for his head.

Silva said he had to “respect” the reaction after r an embarrassing home defeat by Norwich was met by boos and d chants of “You’re getting sacked acked in the morning”.

The Toffees have now lost seven Premier League games mes this season after fter strikes from Todd odd Cantwell and Dennis nnis Srbeny for the he Canaries piled the he pressure on Silva.

And Tof fees s chairman Bill Kenwright was told by one fan to sack the under-fire Portu- - guese boss as he left the ground. The message was simple from the irate supporter: “He’s got to go, Bill”.

But Silva said: “It is not the main thing to talk about ab individual positions or this and that.

“We have h to look at what is best b for the club. My job is i to analyse why this ha happened. I am concerne concerned about what I can control. contr

“We hav have to respect the reaction. I can imagine how they feel when they scored the second goal.

“If we are ar disappointed in the aftern afternoon, I imagine they are. It I is normal they look to the t manager. I respect what wh their feeling.

“We ha have to keep working really hard to change. We had good results before this. We have to be stronger.”

Farhad Moshiri was also there to witness an awful performance from the side he has spent a fortune on.

It was a horrible atmosphere inside Goodison at the end but, while they pointed their anger at Silva, the players are also to blame.

This was a horror performance which could cost the boss his job.

And it came against a Canaries side that had just one point from their previous six away games in the Premier League and lost six of their last seven at home and on the road. Yet here they lifted themselves off the bottom with a gutsy display.

The Toffees were all over the place at the back in the first half and it didn’t improve after the break as shoddy defending in the 54th minute was punished.

Yerry Mina and Mason Holgate made a pathetic attempt to get the ball off Teemu Pukki and he slid in Cantwell – who fired low past Jordan Pickford.

Richarlison fired one into the side netting before Cenk Tosun forced Tim Krul into his best save.

Nobody was on hand to get to the rebound while Silva opted to bring on Dominic Calvert-Lewin over £25million signing Moise Kean.

When sub Dennis Srbeny trotted through the Everton defence and only a half- hearted pull from Holgate tried to stop him in stoppage time before he slid home the second, the boos swirled around.

It got worse for Silva when the home crowd also joined the away fans chanting “You’re getting sacked in the morning”.

Silva will be hoping that turns out not to be the case.
