‘Bren’s in old Bhoys club’

- By STEVEN MAIR

CELTIC boss Neil Lennon says he and Brendan Rodgers are still best pals despite now managing on opposite sides of the border.

Lennon took over at Parkhead from Rodgers after the former Liverpool boss went south to take charge of Leicester City.

And the moves have paid off for both managers.

Lennon celebrated winning three trophies out of three, in the Scottish League Cup final this month, while Rodgers has the

Foxes in contention for a top-four place in the Premier League.

Ahead of today’s Old Firm derby at Celtic Park, there may be a few words of encouragement coming from the East Midlands.

Rodgers still keeps an eye on the Bhoys’ progress and is in regular touch with Lennon.

Lennon said: “I speak to Brendan every week. We text each other weekly, anyway.

“He’s doing great things at Leicester but still keeps an eye on things here.

“I’m delighted for him and I think he’s pretty pleased for me.” And Lennon insists that the Hoops’ continued success is down to the foundations put down by Rodgers before he headed to England earlier this year.

“You have to remember that a lot of the structure was in place when I took over,” Lennon said.

“We’ve added bits and pieces and tried to kick on. You always look for better, but I’m really happy with what I’ve got.

“Even if I don’t add players in January I’m happy to go with what I’ve got and look for improvement.”
