‘New boys Owl I need’

-

few weeks ago, Monk’s team were looking at top three, yet now they have the Championship’s worst record since Christmas.

Rivals Millwall have had a much better time of it until earlier in the week, losing at Leeds to end a six-match unbeaten league run.

They could also have snatched the win in the dying seconds when Jon Dadi Bodvarsson beat the offside, but sent a lob wide.

Lions boss Gary Rowett said: “When you go to lob the keeper and it goes wide, you feel it’s the wrong option.

“I think it was a fair result. Maybe we had a tiny moment of control at times, but I don’t think either team had many chances. I’m quite pleased with the clean sheet.”

Maybe due to that defeat, the Londoners also took a pragmatic approach and the result was a stalemate.

There were odd openings, with Adam Reach harrying for Owls and Tom Bradshaw doing the same for Millwall.

But neither keeper had anything serious to deal with as shots and headers failed to find the target.

The first half, especially, was a write-off with the best opportunity Reach’s free header wide from Kadeem Harris’ cross.

The pair linked again with Reach streaking down the right, crossing to Harris whose shot was blocked.

But this was a forgettable afternoon.
