Gerrard:We had no answers
Scottish Round-Up
RANGERS lost precious ground in the Scottish Premiership title race after their stalemate with Aberdeen.
Steven Gerrrard’s men are now four points behind Celtic, who face Hamilton today.
The Gers saw the end of their eight-league-game Ibrox winning streak – and crucially dropped points for the second time in three league matches in this goalless draw. Gers boss Gerrard (right) said: “The players have tried everything to get the breakthrough. But couldn’t find the answers.
“The reality is that my players were not good enough in the final third.”
Aberdeen left with a deserved point that could have been a victory had Sam Cosgrove converted a golden first-half chance.
The hosts threw on new signings Ianis Hagi and Florian Kamberi in the closing stages to little effect. And Aberdeen came closest to finding a breakthrough from Ash Taylor’s thumping header that brought out the best in keeper Allan McGregor.
Celtic manager Neil Lennon hailed his side’s sparkling show in the 3-0 win at St Johnstone in midweek – but accepts the Bhoys might have to dig out a result at Hamilton today. Lennon said: “Wednesday night was so pleasing, we were breathtaking at times. “We played with zest, quality, style and had a great attitude.
“We are not going to play like that every week.
“Hamilton will be a different game psychologically. It might be a case of being patient and a slower tempo if they make it difficult.”
