strong and resilient and put our bodies on the line.

“The results of late have been good and the supporters are seeing absolute desire.

“We showed a strong character today – we dug really deep and had to as the conditions were tough.

“It was a real team effort. Chris Maguire’s delivery for the goal was good.”

The winner came in only the third minute as Jordan Willis jumped for Maguire’s corner, with Mousinho nodding into his own net.

But Oxford were arguably the better side after that and the Wearsiders needed a rearguard performance to see it out.

Lincoln City 3

JOHN COLEMAN was thrilled to take all three points from Accrington’s seven-goal thriller against Lincoln, but felt neither team deserved to go away empty-handed.

After Jason Shackell’s first-half own goal cancelled out Anthony Scully’s opener, Lincoln goalkeeper Josh Vickers saved Dion Charles’ penalty before sub Aaron Lewis headed the visitors back in front.

Joe Pritchard’s effort squared things up but Shackell headed home in the 76th minute before Seamus Conneely levelled for Stanley two minutes later.

Sam Finley then scored the winner in stoppage time. Stanley boss Coleman said: “I don’t think either side deserved to lose.”

Wright in the first half while Josh Ruffels’ volley after the break was well saved by Jon McLaughlin.

James Henry’s windaided cross hit the bar before Ruffels headed into the side netting from an Anthony Forde corner.

Sunderland lost Wright to an ankle ligament injury that could end his season prematurely.

That was the only bad point about a battling performance although they may have got lucky with ref Kevin Johnson waving away protests after Luke O’Nien appeared to handle in the area.

GLYN HODGES praised AFC Wimbledon’s spirit as they rallied to earn a point.

Matt Crooks and Freddie Ladapo put Rotherham ahead after Max Sanders’ opener, before Kwesi Appiah’s stoppagetime penalty earned a share of the spoils.

Hodges said: “Not many people are going to come and get a point here.

“I felt that we stood up to them. We had to fight and dig in and we did that.”

Rotherham manager Paul Warne is relishing a tight promotion race, with just six points between top and eighth-placed Fleetwood.

He said: “It’s going to go down to the wire and there’s going to be setbacks.

“There are going to be a few twists and turns.”

JOEY BARTON felt Fleetwood deserved their victory over Peterborough.

After Mo Eisa saw his early penalty saved by Alex Cairns, the hosts went ahead when Callum Connolly smashed home in the 15th minute.

Posh levelled when Dan Butler drove home from 25 yards, but their six-match winning streak came to an end thanks to a 76th-minute winner from Wes Burns (below).

Barton, whose side have now won four in a row, said: “Other than the wonder strike for their equaliser, I can’t think of a great deal else they created. “We thoroughly deserved to win the game in my view.”
