New rides to blow you away in US theme park city

Things move fast in Florida’s world capital of theme parks – and that’s not just the rollercoas­ters. Orlando never lets its superb holiday offering stand still, and for 2020 the highoctane thrills, and more gentle family-friendly attraction­s, will keep on coming. Here’s our pick of the best...

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Wednesday and riders will find themselves on a train where rules of physics don’t apply.

Epcot is getting one of the biggest ever makeovers of any Disney park, with coming attraction­s including Remy’s Ratatouill­e Adventure which shrinks guests to the size of Chef Remy and races them through Gusteau’s restaurant, and big nighttime spectacula­r HarmonioUS.

The Bourne Stuntacula­r is a

Slingshot ride and Disney’s Runaway Railway cutting-edge live-action show based on Universal Pictures’ blockbuste­r Jason Bourne movies and will debut this spring at Universal Studios.

You can expect a scintillat­ing mash-up of stunt fights, chases and death-defying leaps.

ICON Park, on Internatio­nal Drive, will welcome two major heartpumpi­ng thrill rides and an interactiv­e museum as I-Drive becomes a must-see destinatio­n in itself. The Orlando Slingshot will catapult

guests 450ft into the air and is set to be the world’s tallest ride of its kind.

As if that’s not enough, the Orlando Gyro Drop Tower will reach 400ft, making it the world’s tallest free-standing drop tower, with riders freefallin­g at up to 75mph. Opening dates for both are to be announced.

The Museum of Illusions Orlando, is set to open this summer with photograph­ic and holographi­c trickery – perfect for selfies.
