An excited Pog (left) said: “In this quarantine I have discovered a new talent which is cooking. My mother is staying with us and
I want to suprise her with a nice, heavy dessert.
“It’s a French dessert, my favourite dessert, and I have loved it since I was young.
“It’s called Frangipan Galette des Rois.”
Galette des Rois is a culinary cultural institution in France – a sweet puff-pastry pie traditionally served on January 6 each year.
Many of us will have been getting a renewed appreciation of food since the plug was pulled on 24/7 availability and Greggs shut.
Even the hoarders will be sick of pasta and bog-roll bake by now.
So Pog’s pudding (right) is looking pretty mouthwatering.
Oddly, the reviews have not been universally positive.
It was described by one diner, a Mr G Souness, as “far too flaky, no bite or consistency... a half-baked **** ing disgrace of a flan for me”.
