Join us on run to Uganda for kids

-

I’m a sucker for a virtual race while there are no mass races allowed – and even more so when it’s tied up with a collective challenge to raise funds for a good cause.

Since last Wednesday, I’ve been part of an amazing challenge to run with as many others as possible (virtually) from the UK to Uganda by July 11. Between us, that’s 6,318 miles.

It’s been put together by my good friends at XNRG, who usually organise challenging but inclusive multi-day off-road races in the UK.

During lockdown they’ve put their efforts into continuing to support an amazing charity, Humanity Direct, which helps children in developing countries through medical care.

What I particularly like about this challenge is that it’s free to enter. You can run and/or walk as little or as much as you like as it’s a team effort, so every mile counts.

Ideally, of course, those taking part will raise a few quid for the charity – but if those you would turn to are unable to donate in these times, you can still use it to kick-start getting fitter again as that in itself is a goal worth aiming for.

Even though the event has started, you can still sign up to be part of something amazing at ultrabritain.com/events/xnrg-hd/uganda-virtual to do a mile or more any time in the next week.

I’ve met so many new friends running XNRG events, and this challenge gives you the chance to do so too. Who knows, it could be the start of something amazing for us all on so many levels.

Why not use this as your opportunity to get outside and get fitter – both physically and mentally – while helping a fab cause.

And you’ll also be running virtually with me, as I’ll be out as usual every day.

Until next week,
