BIELSA’S LOOKING TO SONNE
LEEDS are plotting an ambitious move for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard if they win promotion to the Premier League.
Boss Marcelo Bielsa has made a new frontman a priority this summer and Edouard (below), who has scored 28 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions for the Hoops, is high up on his list of targets.
Celtic do not want to lose the player as they chase ’10 in a row’. But that won’t stop Championship leaders Leeds testing the waters to see if they can tempt him south of the border.
The 22-year-old French youth international has scored 61 times – just under a goal a game – since arriving in Glasgow from Paris SaintGermain in 2018.
Former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has been linked with a move to take Edouard to Leicester but that won’t put off a bid by Leeds if Bielsa does lead them back to the top flight.
DEFENDER Gemma Bonner has signed a two-year extension with Manchester City Women.
The 28-year-old (below) has made 57 appearances, scoring 10 goals, since her move from Liverpool in 2018. Bonner was part of a central-defence partnership with captain Steph Houghton that saw City concede just nine goals in 16 league matches.
She said: “I’ve had a really good two years at the club so far, and I can’t wait to continue that.”
