Q

Why does my cat purr? A

A cat purring while relaxed suggests they are happy, but at other times a purr could be attention seeking or a way of expressing hunger. They also purr when they are stressed or in pain in order to self soothe, much like a child sucks its thumb. It is believed that cats recover from injury faster than many other species and one theory for this is that purring has a positive healing effect on bones and other body tissue.
