Outdoor shoes and jackets

While the UK enjoyed some brilliant weather during lockdown throughout spring, since summer itself has arrived, it’s been rather less reliable.

Luckily, July is the best time of year to buy yourself a new weatherproof jacket or pair of walking boots, with prices at the lowest compared to buying in autumn or winter. This could be an effect of reverse-seasonal buying, where we see some items drop in price in the months where there is lower demand for them.

That said, if the British summer weather gets up to its old tricks then there will be high demand for outdoor jackets to keep us dry on staycation days out.

This week, we reckon UK consumers will be buying…

Tech items

July is usually a big month in the online shopping calendar due to Amazon Prime Day. This is a shopping event where consumers can often find bargains – especially on tech items such as the Amazon Echo, smartphones and tablets.

But, due to coronavirus, the shopping giant is yet to announce when Prime Day will take place.

Rumours suggest it may even be postponed until October, which will come as a disappointment to the savvy shoppers eager to snag a good deal.

Those who had been holding out for a July Prime Day to invest in new tech items might now decide to buy them anyway, not wanting to delay their purchase several more months.

The good news is that while there are certainly good offers to be had on Prime Day, many of the deals are available at other times of the year.

Just be prepared to search for them, for example using a price comparison site.
