BUCKINGHAM Palace has unveiled a portrait of the Queen by Spanish artist Miriam Escofet – showing the monarch with a cup of tea.
The painting was commissioned by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, as “a lasting tribute to Her Majesty’s service to diplomacy”.
The Queen paid a virtual visit to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office via video call, to hear about its response to the Covid-19 outbreak and join the unveiling of the portrait.

According to the revelations – on Sky TV ahead of publication in the Sunday Times – sources revealed William had given advice to Harry about his relationship with Meghan. William reportedly said: “Don’t feel you need to rush this. Take as much time as you need to get to know this girl.”
Harry, 35, was said to have felt the comments came with a “tone of snobbishness” that was “anathema to his approach to the world”.
The book says Meghan was a topic of Palace gossip when she first dated Harry in 2016. One extract says: “One senior royal referred to the American actress as
‘Harry’s showgirl’.
Another told an aide,
‘She comes with a lot of baggage’. And a high-ranking courtier was overheard telling a colleague, ‘There’s just something about her I don’t trust’.”
The book also refers to Meghan’s relationship with William’s wife Kate. It says there were some “awkward moments” but the pair never had a falling out.
It says: “Meghan would agree the duchesses were not the best of friends. Their relationship hadn’t progressed much since she was Harry’s girlfriend. But they were not at war.”
