Ain’t love grand?

has been indulging in Fifty Shades of GREEN by turning his country house into a farm during lockdown.

The Fifty Shades of Grey actor has bought goats, chickens and a horse for his Gloucestershire pad, where he lives with wife Amelia Warner and their three daughters, Dulcie, six, Elva, four, and Alberta, one.

Like characters Tom and Barbara Good in 1970s sitcom The Good Life, Jamie has also taught himself how to grow veg – and he’s become such an animal lover, he’s even a fan of the bats at his house.

Jamie, 38, explains: “We’ve got some bats. We’ve a horse, two goats, five chickens and a dog. It’s lovely.

“The chickens do 10 eggs a day. They are really good quality. And we grow chillies and stuff like that.”

Despite loving his spuds after growing up in his native Northern Ireland, Jamie says his attempt to grow potatoes failed in December when he had 16 relatives over for a festive meal.

“We tried to do potatoes for Christmas,” he says. “Dulcie, our eldest, was helping me pick. She started digging and said, ‘Daddy, I’ve got one’.

“It was literally tiny. We were talking 16 people from Ireland for Christmas.” Jamie bought his £1.75million fivebed mansion near Stroud in 2015. The luxurious stone house has a swimming pool and tennis court, as well as a landscaped garden and double garage.

But despite his newfound love of self-sustainability, Jamie can’t wait for “things to normalise” after lockdown.

He says that while he has loved doing things like going to a drivein cinema near his country pad, he wants to get back to “normality” and misses going to festivals such as Glastonbury. Don’t we all…

Spotify research found that 74% of BAME women and non-binary people feel under-represented by podcasts, with less than 5% of the UK’s top 100 presented by those groups. Its new Sound Up programme is designed to showcase diverse voices in UK and Irish podcasting through education, training and support. Top stuff.
