DANNY SCOPES saluted Concord Rangers’ performance, despite losing at Stevenage.

A deflected Ben Coker strike put Stevenage ahead, before Alex Wall levelled to force extra-time.

Danny Newton put the hosts back in front but Odei Martin equalised to send the match to a penalty shoot-out, with Tosan Popo seeing the opening spotkick saved.

Scopes said: “To not lose any period of the game was very important and to only lose on penalties, I think we can be proud of that.”

MARK MOLESLEY says Southend must improve after crashing out to a non-league side.

The Shrimpers are bottom of League Two and lost on penalties after Jamal Fyfield, Mark Ricketts and Kabongo Tshimanga’s efforts for Boreham Wood were cancelled out by Brandon Goodship, Terrell Egbri and James Olayinka.

“We have to work hard to improve,” said Molesley. “We’re absolutely gutted.”

DARREN SARLL pointed to the “massive moments” in the game after Gabby Rogers struck a dramatic winner for Yeovil.

With penalties looming, Rogers fired into the bottom corner to register his first senior goal late on.

Sarll said: “Games always have massive moments in them. Morgan Williams’ block is as big as Gabby Rogers’ first senior goal. They were the deciding factors in the end.”

CHARLIE DANIELS and Brad Walker netted in the second half to send Shrewsbury through.

“Ultimately we’re delighted to get through to the next round,” Shrews boss Sam Ricketts said.

“It was two excellent goals and nothing less than the players deserved.”

Cambridge manager Mark Bonner added: “The timing of the first goal and the way it came about was really poor and that gave them a foothold in the game and something to hold. They defended well and made it hard for us.”
