Doing it in Styles

- By LINDSAY SUTTON at Oakwell

CALLUM STYLES hit a stunner to sink Chris Hughton’s revived Nottingham Forest side.

And Styles’s first goal of the season five minutes from the end was topped off by an even later strike by Callum Woodrow to give Barnsley four wins in their last five Championship games.

Add to that the fact Woodrow hit the bar twice, and Conor Chaplin once, and you can see the result of the highintensity game demanded by the new Valerien Ismael regime at Barnsley.

The Oakwell boss said: “Callum scored such a goal in training and I told him I wanted that in the Championship proper.

“His goal was incredible and so very important for us, along with Woodrow’s first goal in open play in the league this season. You could see the intensity and quality was there.

“We were very strong in the first 30 minutes and at half-time, I told them to keep going – and that’s what they did in what was a 50-50 game overall.”

Forest boss Chris Hughton, who has only lost twice in his eight games in charge, said: “I’ve had better days. I thought we were going to get something and we were in control when they hit us late on. On the balance of play I thought we were the better side, but we missed our chances, and they kept going.”

The Tykes owe a slice of thanks to keeper Jack Walton who pulled off one great save and two brave blocks.
