Potters Ty it up... just
STOKE CITY
TYRESE CAMPBELL grabbed another deadly double - but in the end his Stoke team-mates were hanging on to win a crazy game.
Campbell helped himself to two goals in two minutes to put Stoke on their way, but the Terriers kept snapping at their heels.
“Campbell was a real threat, we know he’s capable of that,” said Stoke boss Michael O’Neill.
Huddersfield are a dangerous away team, with surprise wins at Swansea and Millwall, but rookie boss Carlos Corberan warned: “It’s one win in six now. We have to learn from our mistakes – quickly.”
Huddersfield took the lead, with
Carel Eiting’s shot from Harry Toffolo’s squared pass. But then Campbell struck (celebrating with Steven Fletcher, above). His first came from a Sam Clucas free-kick that wasn’t cleared, allowing Campbell to smash in. And he scored his second two minutes later, taking Fletcher’s pass and beating on-loan Manchester United keeper Joel Pereira.
Doziness in Stoke’s defence and a slip by Harry Souttar gave Huddersfield a second, Isaac Mbenza scoring from Eiting’s pass.
Pereira and Richard Stearman got into a mess right on half-time and Campbell’s cross was turned into his own net by Stearman.
Stoke should have been in control when Clucas danced through and scored. But then Naby Sarr got up high to head in Huddersfield’s third and the Potters were close to being smashed. 7 ........
