Pulis on warpath VITAL STATS

- By NEIL GOULDING at Ewood Park

TONY PULIS slammed his Sheffield Wednesday side for shipping an “utterly ridiculous” equaliser.

Adam Reach’s rasping first-half effort gave the Owls the lead against the run of play at Ewood Park.

But a superb individual run and finish by Joe Rothwell (above) brought Blackburn level.

Owls boss Pulis fumed: “That is the fifth time in my 10 games that we have been winning and not seen it out, which is a real concern in lots of ways.

“We had chances at the other end to make it two and that finishes the game.

“We are disappointed with the goal we conceded. Twice now, here and Norwich, we have backed off when we have to get up and squeeze the ball and be brave in our decision-making.

“But the lad sidefoots it in from inside the box, which is completely and utterly ridiculous.

“We’ve got a good group.

“But without question we need improvements, and we need to bring the right players in during the window – so I’ll be talking to the chairman about that.”

Rovers were rocked when Reach found the net from 25 yards.

Adam Armstrong hit the post before Rothwell danced his way past three players to make it all square.

Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray said: “I was left frustrated really because it should be a game we should be winning but there you go... we didn’t.

“We have conceded soft goals lately but in their defence it has been an inconsistent back line.

“Recent games have been tight, so we need to be more clinical.”
