AFTER COVID SCUPPERS FILMING Matched to each other on Married at First Sight but we never got to the show... now we’re expecting a baby together

heart and both our families are crazy excited.” Their daughter is due in June. And when the world opens up again the couple plan to marry – in the outfits they were due to wear at the TV wedding.

Ally and Paul were among more than 7,000 unlucky-in-love Brits who applied to the show, putting their hearts in the hands of experts.

Producers ditched the previous system of matching couples by science, including DNA profiling.

Instead, they hired a team of relationship gurus to make the perfect match.

Leading the team was “Love Doctor” Paul C. Brunson, a smooth-talking American considered to be one of the world’s best matchmakers. He was joined by leading UK counterpart Genevieve Gresset, while psychologist Dr Angela Smith – dubbed the “walking lie detector” – completed the team of experts.

They put singletons through their paces with a series of psychological chats and investigations into their lives, including speaking to ex-partners, to work out exactly who they should be paired with. Eventually a handful of couples – including Ally and Paul – were matched.

Ally says: “My parents had never heard of the show and were really gobsmacked when I told them I was doing it. But they knew that I was ready to settle down and find someone.

“They trusted my judgement and I had faith in the matchmakers, so they were happy.”

Two other weddings were filmed before the pandemic – though one of the couples involved have since split.

Ally, meanwhile, has absolutely no complaints about how things have worked out for her and Paul.

She says: “I know 2020 was a crazy year for everyone, but it was the year that gave me everything I’ve ever wanted. I started the year single and I ended the year with Paul and our daughter on the way. It really is a fairytale come true.”

And Paul adds: “It feels like we’ve won the jackpot.

“Ally’s definitely, definitely The One. I can’t wait until we’re married.”
