XISCO MUNOZ is now discovering just how difficult the Watford hotseat is.
Just a week ago, the Hornets were looking good for an automatic promotion bid.
But following a 2-1 home loss to QPR and this lacklustre showing at Coventry, the Spaniard has issues to resolve, even though he has had the manager’s job for under two months.
The biggest problem is Watford’s pitiful away record. Three wins and seven goals on the road tells its story.
And that never looked like changing at St Andrew’s where the Hornets were fortunate to grab a point.
Xisco said: “When we play away we have problems. This has not changed.
“It is true we must improve on different things but now is the moment for us to stick together and continue working hard.”
Watford played Troy Deeney just behind Andre Gray yesterday – and that simply did not work.
Despite Gray coming close to catching out Marko Marosi early on, he looked isolated and never looked like adding to his one goal this season.
Coventry have struggled in attack themselves without key man Matty Godden.
But they did most of the running in this one, with Gustavo Hamer’s header from 12 yards saved by Daniel Bachmann and Dom Hyam nodding over from a Hamer free-kick.
Sky Blues manager Mark Robins said: “It was a hard-fought point but one that really could have been so much more for us. The teams above us are catchable.”
